July is Disability Pride Month, which commemorates the signing of the 'Americans with Disabilities Act' (ADA) 32 years before in July 1990. This being the month when a law was passed to prevent discrimination against people with disabilities, this is surely an occasion for taking pride in how disability simply forms part of human diversity--people living with disabilities are just like everybody else.
In recent years we’ve been collaborating with various universities and government institutions to enhance the hand's strength, longevity, robustness; this makes our users more confident that their hands can keep up with all they must do in daily life. We are always endeavoring to make our prosthetic technology available at an affordable cost for people all over the world, and hopefully we can share some good news soon that will take us much further in this mission. However, for now we hope that at least those who choose to wear a bionic hand will not be neglected.
The Disability Pride Flag featured in these photos was created by disabled artist, Ann Magill, and each of its elements symbolizes a different part of the disability community:
- Black Field: Grieving and fury for victims of ableist violence and abuse
- Diagonal Band: Also light and creativity slicing through the darkness, cutting across walls and barriers between disabled people from normate society
- Red Stripe: Physical Disabilities
- Gold Stripe: Neurodivergence
- White Stripe: Invisible and Undiagnosed Disabilities
- Blue Stripe: Psychiatric Disabilities
- Green Stripe: Sensory Disabilities
